Relaxing and looking after my skin.
01/04/2012 18:31Today is the second day of my blog and i am not surprised if not many people have read it because it's new and probably not that interesting to some of you but to other's who are going to read this and have eczema and want to know what i do to control it or even if you don't and just want an insight into my everyday life.
Well today nothing interesting as happened to be honest, i have been out in the sun and let my skin absorb some Vitamin D after putting on my moisturiser which luckily has sun lotion in it. I got in a bath and relaxed and got ride of the dirt and oil that my skin doesn't need before getting out and dry and reapplying my moisturiser so that i have the moister and oils that my skin does need to stop it from becoming irritated and breaking into read scaly patched which it has been known to do in autum and spring.
But i have also had a relaxing day of just sitting around and spending time watching videos on youtube, talking to friends and spending time with my dad. because lounging around and not over stressing your mind and body can help with the itching of the skin especially when it comes the inbetween weather of getting hot and cold which is when you need to keep your skin moist and well looked after.
Today has been a good day for me as my eating habits and my weird disorder hasn't affected me as much. because i have been eating small and frequent meals with a little exercise in between. which means i haven't felt bloated and the skin on my stomach and ribs haven't felt so tight.
if you have any questions or just want further help or a friend to talk to, please contact me or leave a comment and i will get back to you as soon as i can with the best advice i can give.
What is Eczema and who am i ?
31/03/2012 16:56Okay so you are all probably wondering, who is the person creating this website and writing a blog saying they want to help as much as possible, well i am Gabrielle Thomson, I'm 16 and i am a Eczema suffer. I have had eczema my whole life and was diganosed with it within a matter of weeks of being born, i had dry and bright red skin which i was rub and iche against things when i was laying down. And i know what you are all thinking, she is 16 and doesn't have a clue what she is talking about but i do. I was sent to a specialist who gave me a cream called E45 which my parent covered me in every morning and night. But my Eczema was made worse by my rare metabolism disorder which I inherited from my father and his family, which has lead to more health problems over the years and i will meantion them throught out my blog when they become involved with my eczema and making it worse or sometimes better.
And now on to the reason me and so many other silent suffers actually suffer. Many people either have dry skin or oily skin but eczema is a little drifferent. the term eczema refers to a set of clinical characteristics. Classification of the underlying diseases has been haphazard and unsystematic, with many synonyms used to describe the same condition. About 5.7 million people or every one in nine are diganosed with ezcema in there life time.. could you be the next one ?
There are many types of eczema and this depends on how bad the actual condition is and where it appears on the body. you can find more information on wikipedia, NHS site and there are even charities that look at the issue.
You are all probably wondering on what type of eczema i have.. well this is where it gets complicated as i get it all over my body. i have Atopic Eczema that appears on the head, scalpe, neck, elbows, behind the knees and buttocks but i also have Xerotic eczema which means i have to be careful in dry winter weathers when i am going in and out of buildings a lot and to make sure my pores in my skin are clean and well moisturised.
I hope this had helped other and has introduced me well and shown you that i am just like everyone one else just that my skin needs a little help to stay well and healthy. and that other eczema suffers don't feel alone
